Consumer Warning: Why I would never buy from Xiaomi Again

Tech we love it, all the latest gadgets all those gizmos and all supposed to make our life eaiser!

I have been a bit of an advocate of Chinese mobile phones and wearables, ever since the reality check was, you could get a whole lot of Tech for an inth of the price and generally they are all pretty well made and reliable.

Until NOW, where my latest run-in with a company called Xiaomi’s Customer service (or lack of) as left me with the conclusion, that when I ever actually get my product returned to me, it will be the last purchase I ever make from Xiaomi (UK)!

You can read the debarcle of at Reviews and Guides who I contacted and here are the posts in sequential order.

Update: Xiaomi Watch 2 Experience not the best! Stopped working in 5 days!

UPDATE: Xiaomi Watch 2 Experience Takes a Turn for the Worse

In short:
I purchased their Xiaomi Watch 2 (which to be fair was/is/should have been) a great watch and got it delivered to me on 1st March 2024.

On the 5th March I noticed it had installed a Wear OS update and by the 6th March it would not power on, it was totally unresponsive and I duly set about trying to return it.

For starters their website said I could return it, I had to call them!

So I called them and and they booked a collection, now in my ignorance, I thought this would be a straight forward case of – Receive watch, confim it is dead and I had taken it Scuba Diving or hit it with a hammer and then send a replacement.

Oh No! Me thinks I was a little bit wrong!

It arrived back at Xiaomi on via Royal Mail at 9am on 11th March, yet they booked it into their returns system on 12th March.
It took a lot of slowness for their system to update and I am talking days with the eventuality that it was:
Under Warranty
DOA
Eligible for Replacement

Great after a few inpatient days I thought this replacement would finally be sent.

NO!!!!!!

Now it has a new status and for anyone with anything they have sent back to Xiaomi for a repair that notices this message after entering their web reference I will explain what it means:

The mesage is now “Awaiting Exchange Stock from Manufacturer” and what does this mean, firstly you have to call Xiaomi and then they will tell you they have 10-14 business days to send you a replacement.

It’s mad, the worst customer experience and customer service I have known!

So, they have shirked thet responsibilty on giving any actual forecast date of when I will have my broken Xiaomi Watch 2 replaced, by giving it this replacement/repair status.

So here I am on 19th March, I had the watch for 5 days and Xiaomi have had it for 8 days with this “mystery status”. I am tryiing to be patient but this literally sucks.

I purchased it through Paypal credit, so I have raised a resolution with them as well, as the credit line is running even though I dont have the goods.

Heres is the dumb thing Xiaomi, you sent out a product which became defective and through no fault of my own.
I could order another one of the watches right now on your website and it would be here in 1-2 days, yet even though I asked you wont cancel the order and give me that chace, you would rather sit on it and make your customer suffer.

By the way reader, if they did cancel it I would run…run into the hills and probably look at a Tikwatch Pro 5 instead, beacuse literally no customer service can be this bad.

If you have had a similar experience with Xiaomi, please take the time to comment on this post as we will be sharing it on Social Media hoping to get some feedback from other disgruntlet Xiaomi Customers or ex-customers.

THANK YOU
